saddle mountain, klamath county, oregon ... at the time of the photograph this morning it was zero degrees thanks to such a clear sky overnight. this is a peak with an elevation of 6,847 feet which towers over the sprague river valley in the fremont-winema national forest. as a summit it is a prominent elevation rising above the surrounding level of the Earth's surface; it does not include pillars, ridges, or ranges. nearby summits include wolf butte, buttes of the gods, skunk butte, coyote butte, and rat butte. the local area terrain is considered to be high desert. source us topo map online. prints available.
